Overview

Owned by the Mansion Gaming Group and licensed by the UK Gambling Commission (UKGC), Casino.com has been around since the early noughties. Originally, the URL took you to a casino review site. However, all that changed in 2007 when the brand was converted to a gaming site. Since then, Casino.com has not only established itself on the Playtech network but become a leading bonus provider. Indeed, if you’re a fan of online slots offers, the ‘free’ spin deals at this site can’t be ignored.

Welcome Bonus and Special Offers

Creating your first account at Casino.com entitles you to two welcome bonuses. The first is a standard no deposit offer worth 20 free spins. These spins can be used on the ever-popular Age of the Gods series but they will expire within 24 hours. However, one of the best things about this offer is that the playthrough on any winnings is only 20X. Compared to the industry average, that’s low. In fact, if we compare Casino.com’s no deposit bonus to 32Red’s, you’ll see the former is a lot more accessible. When you collect your free £10 at 32Red, the bonus and any associated wins are subject to a 50X wagering limit. Both deals have a maximum payout of £100, but it’s clear to see Casino.com has the edge if you’re a recreational players.

Once you move on to the deposit reward, you’ll receive a 100% boost up to £100 when you credit your account with at least £20. Unfortunately, as much as we’d like the playthrough to remain at 20X, it does increase to 40X. Fortunately, that’s not too far above the norm. Although you’ll find some sites offering a 35X playthrough, our top-rated UK casinos Betway and BetBright have limits of 50X. What’s more, when you add an additional 180 ‘free’ spins and the contribution weightings listed below into the mix, it’s fair to say Casino.com has one of the more lucrative welcome packages on the market today:

Games Weighting
Slots (all varieties) 100%
Scratch Cards 100%
Pai Gow (all varieties), Red Dog, Casino Hold’em (all varieties), Roulette (all varieties including Wild Vikings and Wheel of Light) 25%
Baccarat (all varieties), Blackjack (all varieties excluding Blackjack Switch & Pontoon), Stravaganza, Craps (all varieties), Sic Bo (all varieties), Video Poker (all varieties) 20%
Blackjack Switch, Pontoon (all varieties) 5%
Lucky Wheel (Spin a Win) 5%
All other games 100%

Finally, another important point to note is that there will be a maximum bet in place when you have an active bonus. However, unlike other top UK casino sites, the limit isn’t universal. In general, most operators state that you can only bet up to one fixed amount on any real money game. At Casino.com, you’ll be able to wager a maximum of £5 on slots and 10% of your bonus on all other games. So, if you collected the full £100 reward, you’d be able to bet as much as £10 on table games such as roulette and blackjack. For us, this is an interesting development because it gives you some flexibility.

As we’ve said, the contribution weightings are slanted towards slot games. But when you factor in the ability to wager £10 on table games, it does make it slightly easier to clear bonuses with other games. In reality, slots will always help you unlock the deals the quickest. However, the different limits do offset this somewhat and, in turn, make table games more attractive for bonus hunters. In our opinion, this is a positive. By acknowledging that not all players are in love with slots, Casino.com has actually made its offer a lot more attractive to the general playing population.

Promotions

When it comes to retention promotions, Casino.com does a nice job of mixing things up throughout the week. For example, there is a clever reload bonus linked to roulette which allows you to choose the value of your reward by selecting either red or black. Although the actual bonus isn’t unique, the creativity is and that’s what makes these deals more interesting.

The offers that really caught our eye, however, were the ones paying out playthrough-free prize. Thanks to something known as Golden Chips, you can bet with bonus cash and collect 100% of your winnings without staking another penny. For example, if you wager at least £50 on roulette between 20:00 and 23:59 GMT on a Tuesday, you’ll receive five Golden Chips. Each chip is worth £1 and can be used on the following: Roulette Live, Age of the Gods Live Roulette, European Roulette RNG and Premium Blackjack. Anything you make from these bets is yours to withdraw or spend instantly.

Beyond this, you can be dealt a Gold Card worth £100 whenever you play live blackjack between 19:00 and 21:00 GMT every day of the week. The cards are shuffled into the decks and will appear at random. If you receive one, an instant bonus of £100 will be credited to your account and available to withdraw immediately. This combination of uncertainty and instant gratification is fantastic and one of the reasons Casino.com’s promotions are great if you’re a mid-volume player.

Software and Games

In years gone by, Casino.com was a one-supplier operator. Unlike many of its peers, the company used to work with a single software supplier in the form of Playtech. While there’s certainly nothing wrong with Playtech or its games, the reality of iGaming in today’s world is that you have to work with multiple brands. Indeed, when you scroll through the lobby of Dunder, you’ll see slots and table games from the likes of IGT, NetEnt, Evolution, Quickspin and more. To keep pace with the leading UK casinos and ensure it has something to suit everyone, Casino.com now works with a selection of developers.

Playtech’s products still form the backbone of the site which means you’ll get access to a slick suite of live dealer tables such as blackjack, roulette, no commission baccarat, hi-lo and three-card brag. In tandem with these games, top slots such as Dragon Champions and Ice Cave are backed by video poker, casual games (keno, heads or tails, virtual horse racing etc) and table games. The stand out features, in our opinion, are the themed games. Frankie Dettori’s Blackjack, Superman Roulette and Age of the Gods Roulette not only allow you to win some generous jackpots but bring another layer of excitement to proceedings.

To augment its Playtech base, NetEnt slots have been brought into the mix. Seasoned players will recognise big name titles like Starburst and Planet of the Apes but with 200+ games to choose from, there should be something for everyone. In fact, the final thing to note is that Casino.com offers downloadable software. Although the instant-play site is more accessible and slightly slicker, those that prefer to play directly from their desktop can. Overall, Casino.com is still slightly behind its peers in terms of working with multiple operators. However, the two it does work with are among the best in the business, so you can confident the experience will always be high quality.

Mobile Casino

Described as a “premium” app, the Casino.com mobile interface is packed with 120 games. During our Casino.com review, we didn’t see much reason for the “premium” label other than for marketing purposes. However, the software does work with the latest iOS and Android devices. In fact, when you’ve downloaded it from your native app store, the interface will connect seamlessly with your mobile or tablet.

As you’d expect, touch controls are in effect, as are push notifications. If that’s not enough, you can use the shake-to-bet function if you fancy injecting some energy into your mobile betting session. If we have one criticism of the app, it’s that the games lobby is a little heavy on slots. Sure, you can play Starburst Touch, Buffalo Blitz and more. However, if you’re a fan of table games, you may find the app slightly lacking in this department. Don’t get us wrong, all the classics are there. However, there is a clear bias towards slots.

Deposit and Withdrawal

Being a UKGC-licenced online casino, Casino.com provides secure banking facilities. From the moment you make a deposit to the way your bankroll is stored, everything is fully protected. In line with this, the standard payment options include PayPal, Neteller, and the pay-by-phone-bill service, Boku. While this is all well and good, we found that Casino.com does fall down when it comes to processing your withdrawal.

Security & Trustworthiness

Casino.com is part of the Mansion Group. For those not in the know, Mansion is one of the longest serving iGaming operators in the UK. When you take this and combine it with the regulatory oversight of the UKGC and Thawte secured software, you shouldn’t have any safety concerns.

Beyond the site’s technical side, Trustpilot users have been critical of the withdrawal policy. What’s more, there have been complaints about the customer service team. In a bid to address the issues, The Pogg held a discussion with Casino.com’s team in early 2018. As reported, the talks were helpful and the casino is now aiming to improve standards in this area.

Customer Support

Despite the reported issues, Casino.com offers a 24/7 support service via the following contact points:

  • Live Chat
  • Phone: 0800 9012 483/+350 200 44793 (international)
  • Email: support@casino.com

Conclusion

If we’re being critical, Casino.com could clean up its act with regards to customer service. Having to wait 72 hours for a withdrawal to be processed is unacceptable and not providing timely responses to member’s issues isn’t a good look. However, if we accept that the operator is working to address these shortcomings, there is a lot to like about this site. The software is reliable and the selection of games is impressive. Personally, it would be nice to see some other developers brought into the mix. However, Playtech and NetEnt are excellent choices.

For us, the area where Casino.com shines is promotions. The 20X playthrough on ‘free’ spin wins is impressive and the wager-free bonuses you can win during the week are fantastic. If we’re going to make a recommendation, we’d say that the welcome bonus is perfectly designed for low stakes players, while those that are more active will love the retention promos. Is Casino.com the complete package? Possibly not. However, this is a strong brand with a lot of positives. Indeed, if you’re a fan of slots and bonuses, this platform has plenty to offer.
